I'm running an edge tuner right now. I know the bodies are the same, but do I have to do anything to the tuning to get the AD codes to run in the truck?

What injectors do you have now? Probably AB's so AD's would be like a stage 1/2. If you have AA's now you will need to change PCM's or go with a custom chip to run the split shot inj properly .

AA's
Thats what I thought. A lot of AD guys don't mind giving thier old ones to an AA guy and sending in the AA cores. The builders don't care either. And its a quick 100 horse /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thats because the AD guys don't have to pay as much to get single shots.

nothing special needed to run AD's in a single shot truck. No special tuning or anything. The AD's do require a bit more oil to run than a single shot though. They have been in my truck now for about 45K with no issues.

I don't want to argue with the previous post, but I purchased a 95 PSD that was a theft recovery. The engine was sitting in the bed when I purhased the truck,so we put it back in & it ran fine. The only problem was that asw long as you were accelling everything was fine as soon as you reached your target speed & I would only touch the throttle enough to maintane that speed it sounded as though I was driving over rumble strips.I scanned the PCM,did a buzz & cylinder contribution test. This indicated I had a problem cyl.4&6,removed both valve covers to find brand knew AD's in these cylinders.I replaced them with used AA's cured the problem. This leads me to believe that a modded PCM or chip would be needed.
I also believe the of this truck had someone working his truck who didn't have a clue. The owner then became frustrated & did a phony theft to get out from under it.This very nice white crew came from TEXAS.Hope it didn't belong to a member.

DP Tuner retunes PCMs either way for splits or single shots at a very reasonable cost. Also has good prices for the PCMs outright.

The AD.s run ok without tunes but you do not get the full benefit in till you get the split program. runs smothe and lots of power but you will need more oil.even with a 17 deg pump I set the cel oil code.

Yes if you mix AD's with AA's you will have problems. I also agree that AD's will run much better with proper programming but it isn't manitory for a smooth running truck.

Thats crap thats like saying all trucks are the same .My other 97 f250 had a mix of aa and ads ran fine. Ask the guy I bought the truck from I showed him tail lights a few times. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

P.S. my other truck had OVER 325 k miles on it .

Aljay,
Your truck might have seemed to run fine, but running injectors with varying flow is not the best idea, and the truck will most certainly run better with all the same, either AA or AD...

Are you saying your truck had a mix of AA's and AD's and it ran fine? How do you know it wasn't just rebuilt injectors with a mix and match of solenoids?

Well if you dobt what I said then thats your deal I know the 2 previous owners and know the trucks history. Yes I have come along way since that truck hell the truck in my sig has stage 1s a tune an intercooler and a fuel system ,does it run better than my last truck well heck yes. Stage 1s and a tune is light years ahead of mismatched sticks and a superchips or the edge I had later on.Oh well if thats all I had were some ads I would put them in just to keep the truck up and running.

I have no reason not to believe you, but I do find it hard to believe that it ran good with the mismatched fuel. I just know from experience when you buy a used truck you don't know the history, but thats not the case for that truck.
