I want to add a voltmeter to truck. Seems funny there is not one from the factory but that just gives me a chance to add some stuff.. so.. any suggestions as to where and what cable i should hook into? I was going to get a new 4 pod piller mount for it... has anyone done this already?

Thanks

Dave

I have a radar detector just like this one. It will display voltage in a red LED digital format. It works very, very well and was named the best radar detector under $300 by either motor trend or consumer reports. Can't remember. It has saved me several times though.

As Fat Diesel suggested, I have a BrakeSmart brake controller and it shows the voltage and amperage going to the trailer. So I can monitor system voltage without a dedicated gauge. Before that I had the ghetto version, a LCD digital voltmeter (less than $10 from AutoZone) that plugged into the powerpoint. I think GaryT has a pic of one in his webshots.

I already have dropped the money on a cool one and the 4 pod piller mount. The real questions is what wire did you hook to?

Thanks

I just added a 4 gauge pod about an hour ago so I could have a voltmeter. Basically exactly what you're doing.
I hooked the power and ground for the voltmeter into the power/ground wires for my tranny temp gauge.....they were right there anyway....works perfectly.
