so instead of forking out a couple hundred for the 6.0 tranny cooler. instead, cant i just get a 50 dollar tranny cooler from napa and splice that into the tranny cooler lines. so there will be 2 coolers on the truck instead of 1? whats wrong with that idea? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Make sure you mount it such that it gets better airflow than the factory cooler, even if this means adding an electric fan that you can switch on when backing up or in slow heavy traffic. The factory cooler is too low to get much benefit from the cooling fan (if on), and gets no air flow when backing up.

I added cooler and fan after a drive up Pike's Peak. Going slow up the mountain I had little flow over the trans cooler and the engine was cool enough the fan never came on. Outside temperature was 38 degrees and the trans overheated.

You can't get a good cooler for 50 bucks. You can buy a good one for about twice that. You can also get a 6.0 cooler for about 100 bucks if you are a good and patient shopper. You truck already has two coolers. I'm surprised you need anything different.

Just do the 6.0 cooler you will see much larger temp drops, mine was 40 degrees. Plus the more coolers you add inline can start to restrict flow so make sure you do a flow test when done. 1 quart every 15 sec.
