I have a 2005 6.0L Excursion and am fairly new to the board. I use this mostly for commuting but do pull a 3500lb boat in the summer for maybe 10 miles a week. Currently I have a MBRP TB exhaust and might add a Pro Guard 7 soon as I have 19K on the odometer.

My question is what tuners, etc. are the most economical for getting a little bump in performance? I don't care anything about radical horsepower or messing with custom tranny shifts. Just something easy I can plug in and switch quickly on the fly that ideally leaves no trace on the computer. I've heard the new Painless SP Diesel Module will do this but I'm open at this point. Honestly 100 horsepower would be plenty.

I guess just remember that if you have the power available YOU WILL USE IT.. several sponsors have setups for you here .. the sct tuners are most bang for your buck and can ready trouble codes.. might give you abit more distance per gallon and you should be concerned with the tranny because if you add power you must address the shifting.. or you will pay for new parts.

look around some and most will agree if you are towing you should have a pyrometer at a minimum and check out the sponsors link someone have what you want..

Thanks for the input Daveoh. I plan to add pyro, boost, and trans temp soon along with an AFE intake.

Look at the Quad Xzillaraider modules. The 65hp setting is great for daily driving, adds a lot of low end power, from my experience. But after you try that you will want more, so get the 110hp module, this has a more power for the weekend, and only costs a little more.

I had a Superchip 1704 and was pleased with the performance but got tired of sending it back to Superchips everytime the dealer flashed my truck. So I got the SCT Xcal2 and I love it! The truck runs much better now (not that it ran bad before)and the mileage has increased over what I was getting with the 1704. Call Eric or Ted @ Innovative Diesel. They will take care of you.

I'll look into the SCT as well.

Thanks.
