I was re-installing the hpop with updated stc fitting, when tighteinng 8 mil bolt that fastens the new stc fitting a chunk of socket (.5 inch x .5 inch of defective socket) broke & fell into block.
I'm gunna take the pump back out to see if the socket is miraculusly sitting on the cam gear, if not, should I drop the pan or will the pickup screen filter that size out from entering the lpop.
Please advise asap.

A YEA any time a chunk of metal or anything else foreign falls into the engine you are going to want to get it out. Do you want to take the chance of it messing something up?

I dropped a injector hold down bolt in the pan last year when doing them on my 03, used a magnet to pull it to drain hole(strong one), then used a telescopic magnet to pull out of hole.Tight fit but it worked.
