If your having any problems that youtube video really has everything on it.

Also if you want video the pdf i have shows how to acces it. You essential tap into the aux port on the DVD player. I relocated it into my center console in the rear. Ditched the rear entertainment module on the center console. You can play stuff off of your new head unit if you want, the factory DVD player.

also a very good thread on another forum on how this all gets done. Im still expanding mine for more options but as of now I can play the same thing on all 4 screens (2 headrests, factory flip down, front head unit) or each headrest can play their own thing or if one person wants to watch whats on the flip down they go to input 2. they only thing thats sucks is the ground loop when I have the ipods being charged at the same time im playing a video. It gets a hum on the audio track. I solved the easy way with ground loop isolators. Ideally you would ground all the same place but kind of a ***** with the location of the head unit and factory dvd player.

anyone ever get video OUT of the rear seat DVD player? - Page 3 - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums

I need to take some pics. I took mine out completely. Got some textured abs plastic from parts express and cut it to fit with some toggle bolts to hold in place. Its just black now but may paint to match. I put a 2 port USB charger there. So far so good. I also added a usb 2 port on each side of the center console. Basically 6 usb ports. i ran usb cords from the side ones into the seat back magazine holder and have the AV cord for the ipod classics there plus an apple lightning cable always connected.

Mettlerj,

I have hooked up a Z1 GPS/DVD/Radio in my 04x and have hooked up the factory DVD so it will play sound through radio to car speakers. Or it can be played with headphones for the kids without going to speakers. If I want to play a dvd on dash radio I need to plug in the Video cable into the exterior video input on the Factory DVD - this allows dvd or map to display on the factory Dvd player.

It took about six months to get the info to figure out the factory DVD, finaly got the info from a great DVD factory expert.

The rep sent a PDF attachment with the info for hookup. Basically you have to make a loop from DVD back into DVD. It normally works by sending loop to factory radio and then radio back to DVD. Without factory radio you need to make it a loop at the DVD, and run a set of speaker wires (via RCA plug) to your new radio input with the sound will play through your new radio to your X speakers.

Since it is an attachement send me your email and I'll forward it too you. I do also have some pictures of my install I could send as well. It is all his work and method, not mine - it works.

I wish there was a way to get video from new radio to factory Dvd without external input, but I could not figure that one out. Took the DVD unit apart and just don't see working - not just a wire fix.

Send me your email for the pdf instructions via pm
Hi there, I was wondering if you still had this info?

I'm currently in the process of adding an aftermarket stereo with flip up video, and want to use the rear monitor in conjunction with the flip up.
