In my 2002 f350 diesel the air is cycling and not just when under load. If I place the shifter in neutral and race it a bit it immediately blows cold air. We checked the freon level and it is OK. I put a 6.0 tranny coooler behind the condensor and was wondering if the heat from the cooler going to the condensor could be making the air cycle? Thanks in advance for any comments.

No. The only way that would affect it is if your high side pressures were so high that the extra heat load was tripping the high pressure switch. That would indicate a restriction in the system. It would never cool in that situation.

More likely, this is a separate issue. How did you check the Freon level? Did you put a real set of gauges on it and watch what was happening as it cycled? If so, what were the numbers. If not, that's really what is needed to diagnose this issue. You could put a voltmeter on the low pressure switch compressor side and see if current is being interrupted when the clutch cycles. If it is, you're short cycling due to an undercharge. If it isn't, it could be the air gap.
