FORCED INDUCTION is the key here...a NA 5.4L Gasser isn't sucking nearly the amount of air a Turbo Diesel is.I run a K&N cold air intake on my 5.4L gasser and love it, hasn't given me any problems every, and I noticed a couple of extra mpgs on the highway (of course that was before I put on my 12.50 mudders, haha)...to each his own I guess...
