Hello, I purchased a 2005 F350 6.0 from a auction. It was a recovered theft. Probably a bad idea, but a very nice truck has 46,000 miles. It won't crank over. Batteries are good, all lights come on is dash, but does'nt do anything when you turn the key over. The scary thing is the check engine light, the wrech light, the abs light are all on. Plus when I hit the brake the TBC fault beebs and reads were the miles are. Also the door ajar lights for every door come up. Lot's of problems I know. What I was hoping is if someone could tell me if the PCM goes out could it cause all these issues. Any help would be great. Thank you

yeah usually will cause all the lights to come on, does the sqigley glow plug light come on and stay on? maybe make sure all the connectors on the pcm are pluged in all the way.

Your best bet is to disconnect the batteries and then try again, pull the codes and let us know what codes come up. These will be active hard faults. another thing you can do make sure it is in park with the emergency brake set, turn the key on and crank the motor over by jumping the starter wire straight to positive. The wire is a round-tubular connection over by the heater box under the hood. look for the single wire by the passenger side battery tray and follow it up to the connector by the fender and heater box, unplug it and touch the inside wire to the bolt on the positive cable, this activates the starter and should make it crank, this also by passes the no start in gear so make sure it is in park or neatural. This also isolates your crank issue to befoer or after the engine/starter.

Well, I jumped the starter and seemed to crank over good. I really don't know on the proper key thing. Didn't even realize ford had something like that, I'll check the key when I get home. How do you tell if it has a PASS transponder?

He probably meant PATS. Since it's a theft recovery I would pop out the ignition lock cylidner and check it out and inspect the ignition switch rod actuator thingy (I haven't done trim work in years). When you pop the ignition cylinder out and look at the back of it, it looks like the tip of a key, well inspect the part inside the column that the "key" slides into. It'll be obvious if there is any damage. BTW: to pop the ignition cylinder out: 1. Turn the key into the Run position. 2. Look underneath the column, right under the ignition switch, there will be a small hole with no screw behind it. 3. Place a small punch or screwdriver in the hole, wiggle it around and push in, the cylidner should slide out with a slight tug. To install it, make sure the key is still in the run position, slide the cylinder into the column, wiggle it, and it will click in place. The cylinder only goes in one way. Also, make sure there are no aftermarket alarms. If it's a typical install there will be a little black box zip tied in place with alot of scotch locked wiring.

I bought it at a salvage auction, but every once in a while you'll get a theft and this one happened to have a clean title. That being said still looks like I have my hands full with this one. At least when there wrecked you know what you have to fix. Thanks for the idea gofaster, I'll probably see if I can get that apart and inspect that tomorrow. Also I found a PCM at a wrecking yard for $125, the numbers match mine so I was wondering if I can just plug this one in or if I need to take it to ford to program it or anything? Just wanted to say this forum is pretty dang cool, thanks for everybody's help.
