I did this yesterday, on mine the greenish colored wire was the hot. I found a wire on the glow plug relay that was hot with the key on only and tied into it, ran a switch to the dash and now I have instant exhaust brake.

With the auto tranny you will need another switch to lock up (ground) the torque converter, when you use the exhaust brake

Good point, forgot about that since I'm running a stick.

Where is that plug located at ?
I have this in my book, courtesy from BLUEMULE :read:: It's the connector under brake booster, one closest to fire wall. Note: wires ports are numbered left to right, top to bottom . If you can get close enough, the purple wire with the YELLOW tracer is in slot # nine, it is stamped on the black housing. this is the wire that the pcm goes to ground when calling for TC lock... this connector feeds the wire harness that goes to the passengers side of tranny. Be careful there are three purple wires with slightly different tracer colors, on our obs trucks use the one with the yellow tracer.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but if you're seeing 12 vots + with the key on, the pcm hasnt grounded it out, which is correct if all you're doing is idling. So in theory, when it's time to lock the tq, the pcm grounds out the Purple wire with the YELLOW tracer to lock it up. Hope this helps ya:thumbsup:

I dont know
I would think it would be a ground wire that would
only be grounded when the pcm calls for ground.

when i did mine i found the purple w/ yellow wire in the picture, spliced into it, ran the wire to a toggle switch, and from the switch to a ground. For the ebpv i spliced into the red w/ white or white/ red wire i can't remember now, but the other wire in the connector is black so you'll know which wire to splice into, then you'll need to run that wire to a switch and then to a hot power source. there is about a four second delay for the ebpv to actually close after you switch it.
