After reviewing all 937 search hits with no definitive answer to my questions, I thought I would ask.

05' F350 CC DRW 4x4, running stock rims(17") and stock tires(245/75).
I would like to go with both a WIDER and TALLER tire for this truck. 17' tire sizes have come a long way since I purchased this rig in Nov., 04', so I do have some choices. I want to stay with the stock rims, stay away from spacers(as a safety concern from what I've read since I pull at or above both truck GVW and GCWR /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif),and need an "E" rated tire for my peace of mind.

1) I have been told that I can run a 265/70 on the rear, and they will not touch under full load. Any info/real world experience with this size?
2) If I have to use a smaller width-size tire on the rear than 265/70( but hopefully a TALLER size), can I use a larger size up front without any other ill effects? Not worried about not having the correct sized spare if a flat occurs, but am I not thinking about other probs. associated with mixing tire sizes front to rear?
3)Brands: Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo, Toyo A/T, Mickey Thompson ATZ, BF Goodrich A/T. Any opinions on these brands, or any others I missed? Looking for decent highway manners, with enhanced performance offroad over stock.

Sorry for the long post; any comments/info/opinions welcome. Thanks in advance. C-Ya!!

Tire width doesn't matter except for the problem of the sidewalls touching between the duals. Plus you don't want a wider tire than your rims are made for. 265/70R17 tires require a minimum 7" wide rim. Your rims are 6.5" wide.

But tire height matters a lot. You have to have the same height (tire revs/mile) front and rear as well as side to side because of the ABS.

Your stock 245/75R17 tires are 662 to 664 tire revs/mile.

265/70R17 tires are about 654 revs/mile = about 1.5 percent taller than stock. You need to stay within one percent difference in revs/mile if you have different size tires front and rear.
