A lot of debate going on about Ford vs GM. Well if you DO actually get a GM cheaper than a Ford think about this: Ford PSD has more HP/Torque than D-Max and PSD has CAST IRON block AND heads whereas D-MAX has cast iron block but ALUMINUM heads. Which one would you prefer for 200k+ miles. You get what you pay for. As a Ford employee I have heard many good reviews from people about OUR product. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smokin.gif

I think aluminum heads are proven to work as well as cast iron in this application. There is no denying cast is tougher, but at an unnecessary weight cost.
8,000 hp top fuel dragsters run unbelieveable heat and compression, and use nothing but aluminum heads and pistons.
Personally, I think the aluminum heads are a non issue, and has been beat to death without reason.
Although I am a Ford guy, I would have no second thoughts if I decided to change to a Duramax.

I'd prefer either - I still think GM has better interiors. And I think both can easily peg 200,000.
