Hi Guy`s! A friend of mine just called me and asked me if i could get some help from you guys.He is working on 7.3,he said that the owner suspected a blown head gasket,so the heads were rebuilt and he put them back on today.He said he`s still getting antifreeze in the engine oil!Wanted to know if it could be getting in by way of the oil cooler,he`s got me on that one.Could anybody help me on this,i don`t know how it could be still getting in the oil? Thanks so much,you guys are awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it is an older 7.3 IDI, they are known for cavitation problems which erodes the cylinder wall thickness from the water jacket side until it breaches the cylinder.

This can be prevented with careful attention to coolant additives and by regular checks with chemical test strips. This problem is not a frequent one on the 7.3's from the powerstroke era.

You have a boat anchor most likely if it is not a PSD.

I have heard of the oil cooler failure and seen it on some cars as well over the years. I think youre gonna have to take it apart and pressure check it.

If its a PSD it could be an injector cup. even if they Done the heads they might not have messed with the cups and one could be loose.

Micheal, here is a thread that refers to the sealant used on the injector cups can be destroyed by the hot tanking cleaners when heads are redone.. inj. cup leak Did they hot tank the heads on the rebuild? It ain't the heat it is the caustic solution....

Hi Guys! Just a follow up.I talked to my buddy late last night,it turns out he pulled the exhaust manifold off and it had antifreeze coming out of three cylinders,Mike you were right on!It`s a 1992 7.3,it`s believed the cylinder walls were breached from cavitation,a big thanks to all of you for your help,it`s very appreciated!!!!!!!!! Michael
