Just wondering if anyone has any great ideas of what to get my husband for Father's Day? I don't know if I'm posting this in the right forum or not. He has a 2000 F-250 diesel 4x4 long bed ext cab. I could really use some help especially since there's not much time left. Thanks!

I wouold say either some weathertech rain visors that just slip into the window frame or the later style cup holder that pulls out from the dash was the best upgrade I did.

The early ones had little rubber flaps that i swear could actually launch a Coke onto my lap during cornering.

The later style ones have arms that secure drinks....very nice....

Local Ford shop might have or FordPartsOnline.com.....

Bed Mat or Rhino lining for the bed

Silver Star light bulbs from any autostore really light up the raod at night - simple replacement bulb - nothing fancy

Fuel card so he can drive his truck more

4 jugs of Rotella 15-40 Synthetic motor oil and Motorcraft FL1995 filter - all from Wally World for $70

Thats a good suggestion, considering the time frame. I know I would like a gift cert. for Fathers Day from a sponsor. Welcome to the site MeganH. And what a fine Irish name you have.

Thanks for all the great ideas so far. I'd like to spend no more than $200. There is a Ford truck dealership & service place not too far from our house so I'm sure I could find something there. It's one of my husband's favorite places! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif They only deal with trucks and have everything imaginable. He's like a kid in a candy store there.

I know he really wants to do some sort of storage box for his truck but he doesn't want a big box. He wants a side storage box so he can use the full length of his bed. I was looking around on the internet and saw the CoverMate side boxes by Truck Trunk. Has anybody ever heard of them? Are they any good?

One of the best boxes made is from Weather guard, Knaak mfg. in IL makes them. Never heard of CoverMate for boxes, just bed covers. I would not recommend getting a gift cert. for a dealer they will always rip you off on prices.

I think the cupholder idea is great. He still has the old one and now that I think about it, he has commented before about how he doesn't like it. He has a tan interior but how do I find out exactly what the color is? I have seen prairie tan as well as parchment listed on the internet. They aren't the same color so how do I know which one to get for his truck? Thanks!

I'll tell you what - I PROMISE you that he will think of you every time he puts a cup of coffee, coke, other beverage in that holder - especially when he takes a corner.

After I put mine in, I still had the habit of looking down or reaching over to hold whater is in there.

It actaully made the truck more enjoyable to drive (I think I got better mileage, too!!)

Hope it all works out -

This will be my first father's day as a father, and i wish my wife woulda done something like this for me!! But hey, she just gave birth a week ago ! ! !

I like the cupholder idea, a friend did that one.

Lets see, you're running out of time...ummm, vent visors for the windows, you could probly get into a A-pillar guage pod for $200 from Fat Kid Diesel Performance, PM me and i can get you his phone number.

Good luck!

Get the upgraded cupholder from http://www.powerstrokeshop.com or from the dealer. Very glad I upgraded mine, too. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/warmsmile.gif

Get a pair of C-Betr mirrors from http://www.qwks.com/C-Betr-Mirror-Set-p-3.html

Get a fumoto valve if he likes to do the maintenance on his truck himself from http://www.fumotovalve.com/ or from http://www.dieselsite.com.

That puts you at around $160 or so depending on where you get the cupholder. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/warmsmile.gif

I have all three of these and am extremely pleased with all... three very practical enjoyable mods.

Thanks guys! I ended up ordering the upgraded cup holder from powerstrokeshop.com since they are in Indiana and I am in Ohio...they said I should have it tomorrow!

I'm pretty sure he already has the visors on his windows.

I might check into getting the valve since he does change his own oil...but he might already have that. He's already added on & changed lots of stuff to his truck. Maybe I'll call his brother & see if he knows. His brother also has a big diesel truck...2002 f350 crew cab short bed. You should see them when they get together with their trucks!

I think I'm also going to buy some silverstar light bulbs...have the little ones give that to him as part of their gift.

Thanks again for all your help! Much better than getting him a new tie or shirt! :p

Here's another thing that I have and recommend a lot:
http://www.gosracing.com/inc/sdetail/1983

It increases the light output of the headlights a LOT. Combine that with the Silverstars and he'll have some real bright lights. A lot of members have that upgraded harness and are all pleased with it (feel free to do a search if you like /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif).

You should also tell him and his brother about TDS (this website). /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smokin.gif

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll check it out. Oh, and they both come here & check it out a lot. I don't think they post too often though...he lurks a lot though. This is where my husband gets all his info & ideas on what he wants to do to his truck.

Here's a link to one of his posts & jobs he did on his truck:
