I have read many posts about the Tymar, and all seem to be positive. I am considering installing this system into my 1999.5. My truck has the wicked wheel installed, and I think a better intake would really set those wicked wheels to spinning. I do not pull or haul anything with this truck. I got it because it looks good /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smokin.gif and I love driving it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif It is nice to know that the power is there if I do ever need it.

Let me hear your pros /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif and cons /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif about the intake.

Thanks,

The only con I can think of, is if your a bigtime mudbogger. The tymar is not "protected" like the AFE systems, or the stock box, so if you hit a huge puddle of mud, it can get up into the engine bay.

It wont let the dirt IN, but it will plug up your filter. I have seen Tymar filters 100% caked in mud, and not so much as a drop of dirty water made it into the inside. You have to replace your filter tho.

The comments about "underhood temps" etc etc have been proven unfounded by other users with too much time on their hands /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif . Driving down the road over 20mph pretty much keeps the engine bay with a fairly cool charge of air for the intake to pick up.

Its cheap! Its filters GREAT! It looks cool. Did I mention its cheap compared to some of the other aftermarket intakes?

Well, I'm going to install a Tymar on my truck. I have the AFE Stage 1 now but I'm a little leery of the K&N filter I'm using. I gave much thought to the Ford AIS but I think there may be somewhat of a flow restriction with it plus it's pricey.
The Tymar will cost me virtually zilch compared to most of the other intake systems and I can have the best of both worlds, Great filtration and air flow.
I'm not much on putting my truck in the mud. It cost too much. I have an ATV that I use for that.
