Diesel prices have taken the joy out of some of my machines, especially my truck. But, I can't stand filling my tractor and skid steer with taxed $5.70 per gallon fuel. I believe I can run home heating fuel in them. So, I am considering purchasing a transfer tank. Yes, it will take a few years to pay off, but it will eventually pay off. I was thinking of something like this. Any suggestions?

Apparently, the largest you can have is 120 gallon. This company stated they went with 110 gallon so that there is no hassle. Ever heard of this company. Any other suggestions on how to get around the psycho diesel prices for something that does not hit the road? There are no "off road" diesel pumps near me. Thanks.

Heating oil has no lubricity additives so you will need to heavily treat it before running it in your engine.

Were you thinking home heating oil or non taxed red fuel?

I was thinking home heating fuel. I must say, it is hard to get the truth as to what that actually is. I have been told by numerous people that home heating fuel is the same as off road diesel. Very confusing. Home heating fuel is a solid $1.50 per gallon less. I am not sure what "off road" diesel would be and I am not even sure where the heck to find a pump for that.

I saw those Lee tanks and actually spoke with them last week. I like the forklift pockets. But, I don't think you can put that in the back of a truck, if you chose to. It also is steel, so subject to rust. It has a lot of other features I like though. I had called them about the 200 gallon one. Most home heating guys don't like to deliver less than 150 gallons. But, if home heating fuel is not safe for my machines then this sort of is moot.

For red fuel you might have to drive around a bit to find it at a pump. Look for it where bulk fuel is sold to farms.

I remember buying on road diesel and the station having to figure out the tax on it.

you don't say where you live, but I bought 150 gallons of Red Diesel in Huntington, UT back in August 2022.....
I stayed with my sister on her horse ranch for 3 months while she was ill, took care of things there until she and hubby were able to get back on their feet.

Hart's Fuel & Gas, sells Phillips 66 brand fuels.

If I remember correctly Clydesdale is back east somewhere, NY I think.

I haven't been at that Hart's for a few years. I used to fill up there when I headed out to the desert for Memorial Day to run my buggy.

I am going back to Cleveland, UT just north of Huntington next summer,
do you live near that area?

I will be in my Red Excursion, have to return their Aluma trailer to them, they gave me their oldest Kubota B7100 tractor as a gift/payment for repairng the M9000 and feeding the stock, and digging up a water leak 7 feet down yonder... "larned" how to run their backhoe, a BX25

I lived in Price for a number of years and have a couple of friends who live in Cleveland along with Huntington.

We used to head out into the Buckhorn Draw area quite often to go exploring and getting to know the area. It's been a number of years since I have been out there but I still stop in and visit my friends when I am passing through the area.

Home heating fuel could be the same as off-road diesel, but the product description would have to state that it meets minimum diesel specifications. Home heating fuel specific product only has to meet ASTM D396 which does not have a cetane specification.

Ask some of your smaller company filling stations, in Oregon I fill out a form that eliminates the tax for what goes in my jump/transfer tank. Also look around for comercial fuel suppliers in your area, you may need to open an account, yet they deliver as little as a 100 gal. to my farm fuel tank for .02-.03 per gallon (non taxed red) more than the going rate. The red dyed fuel knocks off what ever the taxes (state and federal) are, here it's about .70 cents a gallon
