Found this guy selling these glow plug relays. After reading through all of the former threads about Stancor failures, NAPA failures, etc. I was wondering if this guy's have been put to the test by anyone here.

I asked him who the manufacturer is and his reply was "Can't reveal."

[/ QUOTE ]I think I am the only person who has had a Stancor failure and that was replaced immediately by Allied Electronics, the distributor and apparently there were some QC problems with a batch of contactors many others have purchased these and they have proven to be much more dependable than Napa or Ford. I would not buy a pig in the poke, a GPR from an unknown manufacturer.

I'll stick with a Stancor thank you. Sure you could buy 4-5 of those for each one of the Stancor but changing them out at -20 is a PITA, I would rather avoid. Hence my choice.

I think HnH2 has the right idea, if you're going to buy other than stock, go with something beefy like the Stancor.

Also, from the pic on that auction, it's 90 degrees out of rotation from the stock relay, so you'd have to do the wire stretch thing to install it. Also, that crap about all the internals being stainless steel is just that - crap. Stainless stinks for electrical contacts, and also the core that gets moved by the coil (copper by the way) has to be magnetic, and stainless isn't. The guy may be selling good relays, but he's also the "hypemaster" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

I would buy from him from one simple reason. The person actually cares about what they are selling. To them it's not just something they sell, but something they are interested in.

Is it just a standard off the shelf GPR, yep sure is, and there isn't a thing in the world wrong with that.

I have a big fat stancor relay in my truck, and I haven't noticed one bit of diff with starting good or bad. Other than it being annoying to install and looks stupid. Mine came from mouser.com

Kanman,
If you don't like the Stancor unit why do you leave it in your truck? You must believe somewhere that it is better than the junk sold by Ford and Napa?
To the OP do a search for Stancor, I saw them for $33 each and chances are it will be the last GPR you ever buy. Like HnH said, when you notice that it isn't working it isn't 80 degrees outside.
