ive heard of these on big rigs and a guy i was talking to has a 99 7.3. he said get to get a bypass filter. it hooks up to the current filter location and filters the oil down to 50 microns or something small. he said he never has to change his oil anymore just test it every 5k miles and add as necessary. anybody have one of these. said he got it for like $150.

My oil stays clean, and I'm able to run at 25k+ intervals.....I like it. I put 1000 miles per week on my truck so bypass filtration is the only way to go IMO. Make sure that you do routine oil analysis in order to determine how far you can go.

I would be able to go farther than 25K intervals, but my fuel dilution reduces my viscosity down to a low-mid 30 weight. I feel more comfortable staying in the mid-high 30 weight range at the minimum. People that dump their oil out of the crankcase with anything less than 10K are wasting perfectly good oil (barring excessive fuel dilution, antifreeze contamination, etc...). Best of luck.

Well that 25k change interval is absolutely amazing. From the oodles of posts I've casually read on this forum and another site you'd never know you could go more than 5k on ANY type of oil with the 6.0 due to "shearing".

The proof is in the pudding; analysis don't lie. I like the fact you've got data to back up your change interval. Of course I have to ask who is your oil analysis lab, if it's not Blackstone I'm sure a lot of people here won't trust it.

I use Amsoil's lab....Oil Analyzers. If people only trust Blackstone then they need to educate theirselves on oil in general. Blackstone is a reputable lab, along with others out there. In that same breath, there are also labs out there that aren't that great. Educating yourself and knowing who to use and who not to is the key.

With the Schaeffers 9000, I have established a 10000 mile oil change interval as of Blackstone and Schaeffers oil analysis.

The shearing is mostly on the mineral oil, not the syn's..

The last OA I sent in, they wanted me to go to 12000 miles and resample.

And I have single digit silicon levels as well.

Hey Hogs, Hello, hope you are enjoying the home town..
