Hey, wanted to know if anyone has a 06 f-550 with 4.30 gears? And what kind of mileage you get with it! Its a new option this year 4.30 gears instead of 4.88. Any problems with the 06 6.0?
I ready to order a 06 550 4x4 s/c xlt for work!

I have an05 F450 with 4.30 gears. It only gets between 8.4-9.7 on about 20 tanks so far. about 2/3 city, 1/3 highway. LS

i have an '05 f 550 with the 4.88 gear. I average 13.5 mpg around town. and about 14.5 on the highway. without a load of course. I prefer the 88 gear over the 30. really gives the extra edge to get those loads moving. At least for my personal scenario.

Today I just got my best MPG so far @ 8000 miles 10.7. S L O W L Y getting better. This tank was about 1/2 highway, and half of that was towing a lightning. Truck weighs 10,500# empty. I had the 4.88's on my last F450, but I didn't like 2700 rpm to maintain 70 MPH. with 4.30's I'm only at 2300 rpm. Since I rarly tow big loads, I figured I'd slow down the wear on the engine. If you'll be loaded near max weight often, get the 4.88's. LS
