I put some warn manual hubs on my buddies 97 250. he had autos that didnt work so i had to change out the nuts and all. but there were no directions with the kit. so i did what i thought was right and what i could make work. after he used 4wd a few times or locked and unlocked them, they both got stuck in locked. so i took it to work and pulled the covers off, figgled the hub a bit and the peice that slides over that axle moved back out to unlock it. now one of them is stuck again. he said it looks like the peice wont come out all the way? anyone know whats up with these things or where i can get some directions to make sure i didnt put anything in wrong.

Anyone here have warn manual hub problems?

Yeah I have. When I was drag racing in the dunes, it made a loud bang and when I took it apart there were little pieces of metal everywhere. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Anyway, I don't think you can really mess up the install in that part. If I remember right the section that slides in and out to engage is all one piece with the part that the cover/knob screws into. Not sure where it could get stuck.

Oh wait when I pulled out the broken (it was in pieces) one I think there was a spring back there, maybe that isn't seated somehow keeping it from pushing back out? Just going off memory here, I'll have to look at my extra hub in the garage tonight and see...

I think I still have the instructions that came with them if you would like a copy, I can scan it tonight when I get home.

the only spring with these was on the knob, the out side, nothing on the inside of the gear, that would be great if you could. thanks

Mine was literally all in pieces and I thought I remembered a spring somewhere, but I'm not sure, maybe not. That has long since been thrown in the trash but I'll go out and look for the papers that came with the new hubs.
