Why does my truck have 95000 miles on it and I have never had any egr problems and I have never even pulled it out to look at it.
Now that its out of warranty if I do have any problems then I will upgrade or delete the whole egr system but I wont worry about it until I have to.

Who cares about what your going to do with your truck? The question is if this is a viable product or not.

IMO, it's a waste of money You're still left with the OEM EGR cooler. If your oil cooler plugs up the EGR cooler can still rupture allowing coolant to leak into the exhaust side.

If you want to do it right, get a full delete kit or a Bullet Proof Diesel EGR Cooler.

I have this exact spool installed in my truck for almost three years now. I agree the best way is to do a full delete but I did not want to spend $300 on having it installed then some time later take all the same stuff to upgrade the turbo. Some guys still think for some reason I still have hot exhaust gas flowing into the cooler with this setup but after doing a temperature profile with a temperature gun while on a dyno there is so little flow that the temperature at the firewall end was only a few degrees above the cooling water temperature. But again, a full delete is where I will eventually end up.

Sorry, but your fooling yourself if you think a block off plug cures, even partially, the EGR cooler issues.

You're right about the exhaust; it is dead headed against the EGR block off. So you'll have no exhaust flow.

Problem is, though, you still have coolant flowing through the EGR cooler. If the coolant side of the oil cooler plugs off you can still have overheated coolant in the cooler and cause a rupture. Once that happens you'll end up pouring coolant out your exhaust pipe or over pressure the degas tank with exhaust gases.

The only thing a block off plug does is prevent you from having to pull your EGR valve and clean it periodically and keep exhaust gases out of the intake.

Take a peek at this site and determine which path you want to go.

MKM Customs - EGR Delete & Upgrade Kits

There are two basic paths. EGR cooler delete, or BulletProof EGR cooler.

Where you live, the year model of truck, and other factors will influence your final decision.

Year models 2003-2004 don't throw codes when EGR is unplugged.
Year models 2005+ requires a tuner to be purchased and the EGR command programmed out.

As a disclaimer, the removal of bla bla bla is for OFF ROAD vehicles only. Bla bla bla.

Good luck!

As I said, a full delete kit is the best and is what I will eventually put in. The reason I installed the plug, like you stated, is to keep the intake clean and free of coke which had already taken out my turbo once and was not something I wanted to foot the bill for if it happened again. It was fast and very easy swap to do. If you get rid of the Ford crap coolant and use a coolant filter you should not have plugging issues. I know some guys that use this plug but switch it back to the OEM valve to pass inspections, I also know guys that have the Bullet Proof modified EGR cooler and love it.
