It's going to be time to change my coolant one day soon, and I'm wondering if the Evan's product is worth the additional cost for those of us planning on keeping our trucks in the long term?
I would imagine it might be a good time to change hoses as well, since my truck is now 10 years old, and I'm still running the stock hoses? They look/feel like they are still in good shape, but I have bought a few of the hoses...back when they where on sale..so now might be the time!
It does seem odd that there is NO pressure in the cooling system with the Evans product...as I see they even recommend (at least for a while) to drill a hole in the top of your radiator cap? This apparently allows any water vapor out of the system from the steam created by the water left from flushing.

Seems like what should have been put in these trucks from the factory...but that of course would only have been wishful thinking.

Anyway...would like any comments/advice on the product, and find out who's using this in their truck!

Thanks..

There is no need for a closed system with Evans. I've been using Evans for some time now, and will do it again if I ever get another truck. I really don't consider the cost a factor, at least not as much as peace of mind.
Flush your system and drain completely (including both block drains), change out any of your cooling system components that you have any questions about (hoses, water pump, thermostat, etc), install Evans, drill hole in cap. Top it off over the next couple of weeks as the residual water in the system evaporates.

I've been using it for about 4 months and I really like it. I changed mine over when I changed the water pump. Added the 203 degree stat too. Zero pressure is awesome... no blown hoses!

I also changed all of the hoses at the same time. I would highly recommend the Evans!

Dale, I switched over to Evans because of three things...zero pressure and no more worrying about SCA's and it is a lifetime coolant. I would recommend replacing all of your coolant hoses and thermostat if you haven't already. A good time to switch is when you replace all your hoses. Follow the directions for draining all of your old coolant and water out of the system. After I replaced mine I sent in a sample to Evan's. They will check it for percentage of water to make sure you are below 3%. You can have it sampled anytime for Free. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif
