Those wont fit the wheel is why they quit making them. 16.5 although real close and probably close enough will not mount on a 16" wheel. It says right on the tire not to mount on a 16" wheel. Since 16.5 wheels were abandoned by Ford, what was it? 1979 or so? they went to the 16" and tires are dwindling in the obsolete wheel size. If you have 16.5" wheels you can go back to the correct wheel size and all is well.
You Lost me cause 1997 had 16.5s on them from the factory, unless of course you are refering to 1979 is a transposed typo. I went with 16's cause of lack of L0ad range E tires in the size i wanted for a 16.5. so now I got 6 Rims and 4 used tires and 2 New tires that I cant use and need 1 spare rim and tire

I don't know where you got your info from, but it's wrong.
They came from the factory with LT235/85Rx16E tires on 16x7 wheels unless it was DRW and then it had LT215/85Rx16E on 16x6 wheels.
