Any 6.4L owners use an app on their smartphone or tablet called Torque Pro??? Its on the Android market and works through a wireless OBDII device.

I have torque pro and a cheap bluetooth OBDII adapter I got from ebay, it works really well. I use it with a companion plug in app for torque called "torque scan" it shows all the raw data from all the sensors the OBDII scanner can see with the only downside being some of the measurements can't be changed from metric to english units. But its a really neat app and come in handy for scanning codes and clearing if necessary. If you have any specific app questions let me know and I can experiment.

How are you monitoring EGT and FP? Old style gauges or through a different aftermarket monitor?

Hey Folks:
Didn’t have the Torque App for my 6.4L (wish I had). Not sure why you can’t change from Metric to English, it should be a matter of changing the settings, if not you can change the equation? Canada is Metric and I’m old and prefer English.

That said, the App is really a code scanner and most people like us want to use it as a monitor and this is where the learn curve gets a little steep. I monitor the EGTs to know when I’m in Regen and have been testing on my 6.7L to get a Regen status light.

I believe the 6.4 has 3 EGT sensors and the PIDs I posted below could be corrector at lease a starting point?

EGT 1 = 22096D
EGT 2 = 220992
EGT 3 = 221171

Sorry didn’t notice that you had a 6.0L, I did read a link about adding a after market module that would allow you to connect sensors to it and in turn allow Torque to access the data through a CAN BUS (OBD port) and make a custom PID to display it. If I find the link, I’ll pass it on. I’m new to all this and still trying to understand the hardware and software. Please understand that I’m learning it for interest and it is a steep learning curve for me, folks without knowledge of software and hardware can get over whelmed.

Sure, the 6.7 PIDs are easy to get.

I am interested in info related to teh 6.4 dpf and regen - thank for your work on this.
I am also looking at openxc which is an open development facility for creating apps related to obtaining info from can bus via odb port.

I don't have an apater but will probably order one over the break.

Adapter Warning

To all concerened,
If you are buying a bluetooth adapter for Torque Pro, don't get the vgate icar2! It causes random faults on the can bus. Today it caused a turbo over pressure fault (note: there was nothing really wrong with the turbo). A friend of mine also had the same fault on his 6.4 today. So, I guess you get what you pay for. I will probably end up getting the adapter I was originally looking at, which is the OBDLink MX.

What I need is a OBD BT adapter and the right App or program to display the EGT as a gauge so when I'm towing my RV I can monitor the temps and protect my engine. This thread seems to be all about that. Is the Torque Pro App and the OBDLink MX the right combination to do this? And what was that about the Ford specific PID's? where do you get those? Any clarification is appreciated.

I didn't know about the Torque Pro App when I owned a 6.4L. I do use it with my 6.7L.
The Torque App is for an Android phone, not Iphone.
There is 3 exhaust gas temperature sensors on the 6.4L and it looks that the poster above has found some of the Ford PIDs specific to the 6.4L.

It seems that the poster can monitor oil, coolant, exhaust and transmission temperatures among other sensors.


What you need?
Device that can run android OS (phone or tablet).

Torque Pro from Google Play or other App store.

OBD2 Bluetooth Adapter. The BAFX from Amazon works and is a lot cheaper then the obdink.

I'm now using the OBDLink MX Bluetooth version adapter. I had a problem with it not going int sleep automatically, but after a call to the manufacturer they told me how to do a reset on it and how to correct a setting in Torque and now it works. You need to put a check in the Torque setting called "ScanTool.net (OBDLink) Power Savings". Without doing this it will not go to sleep properly. I also found that I need to close the Torque app before shutting off the engine!
As far as what all the sensors are and such I would suggest searching the web for the Powerstroke 6.4L Bible and start reading.
In regards to your question about the pre turbo temp (PID 22115f on my list), that will be the hottest one, since it is right after the exhaust manifolds. One thing to note about this sensor is that it is not very accurate until a little while after engine start when it heats up a little, so don't be alarmed if it reads something like 140 degrees with a cold engine before starting.

Did to try the TPMS PIDs that was just posted in the 6.7L thread by another member? No sure if the 6.4L had its own TPMS module, but it is worth a try.
