Hey Ford Truckers /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smokin.gif

I posted a few days ago my ATS housing and exhaust upgrade was going slowly but surely down at the shop. The manager down at DPS said it was one of the toughest jobs they have seen in a while. All the bolts broke in the housing because of rust and heat, so they torched them out and were able to get the job done this afternoon. He charged me for 9 hours which is a lot.. but I know they had at least 15 into it. Increasing the firewall clearance for the downpipe etc. all adds up. Pyro installed on my a-pillar.

Jumped in and set off for my 1 hour trip home.... WOOOOHOOO! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif Loved the improvements right from the turbo zing to the good torque and HP increases. It really wants to move, tough staying off the pedal /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif

I need to phone back and see if they increased my fuel (which I asked them too)because it's not listed on the work order. Also to find out the location of the pyro. He took it for a test drive and was very impressed with the bottom end power and how tight the truck felt and sounded. I'm hoping th IP is in good shape and I won't have to touch it for a few years, it ran strong before the upgrade.

The pyro read about 500-600 at 65mph empty, 80F outside today. Climbing big hills and accelerating in fifth it moved up as high as 725. I'll need to get my 10,000 lb trailer behind to see the real improvements and to see how my temps are. I'll add more info in the next day or two to see how it goes. I've appreciated the info I've gotten on TDS, its made me a lot more knowledgable on these IDI's. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The guys did adjust the fuel, I'm not sure how much. Its unlikely its maxed out. Currently more fuel probably won't necessarily give me more power, is this reasonable? I still have gas pedal travel left when accelerating, putting it to the floor doesn't seem to help me go faster. I'm assuming I'm making as much power as I can with my current mods and fuel. Or does maxing out the fuel give me more power?

The pyro is right after the turbo so the guy told me to figure about 200 degrees more at the manifold. I suppose that location prevents a broken probe from destroying the turbo. He mentioned going after turbo measures the turbo heat when its being worked really hard, which in turn could not be measured if it were ahead of the turbo. Sounds ok but is the turbo going to give off heat? Maybe someone could give there thoughts if interested. Thank you! ~G
