Audiobahn makes really good woofers for their price, if your just looking to give a little more punch to your system than those would work good for ya.

mikey disagrees. weve seen way too many audiobahns come thru the shop F'd up. people think theyre nice because of all the chrome, but in reality theyre terrible woofers. youre safest bet is with a rockford, kicker, JL, etc...

If price is a concern, you can't do any better than a single 12" Image Dynamics ID12v.3. Best bang for the buck. Feed it 300 clean watts and hold on.

Sorry, I don't know what your price point is but the sub listed above goes for appx. $150.

Thansk for the reply. Has any one found a 12" turck box that will fit in an 05 Super Duty 4door? I am finding that cutting a whole for a 10" sub out of an 8" truck wedge and stick that behind the rear seat.
If ANYONE has been able to throw a 12 behind their rear seat in a wood box please let me know your entire set up.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I am gettign closer to getting this system worked out.

I here this company; Proboxrocks , makes great sounding boxes and are reasonably priced. The box in the link is only for one 10in sub. I am going to get one of there newest boxes for the 99 ext cab trucks (the 99's back seat in the ext cab are different from all the other years). You can contact Bozowise on this site and he can get you one very cheap. He was the cheapest when I priced them about 1 month ago. They also have this non specifice box as well; 12in box .

man its all i could do to get a 10" Kicker Solobaric back behind
the seat (had to cut the carpet & vent off the wall)...theres not
very much depth behind these folding seats in the in 2004+

i paid 99 bucks for a NEW (full warrenty) S10L5 Solobaric from
crutchfield (the L7 is too deep/thick to fit)

driven w/ 400 watts it provides more than enough for me...the
solobaric S10L5 will handle more than 900w !

I agree the Audiobahns mentioned are not a high performance woofer, but for someone looking to ad a little bass they're not bad speakers. A good friend of mine runs 4 12" audiobahn comp. series in a cutlas and it pounds way harder than mine. As far as Rockford subs, I won't own another pair they sound great but blow too easy,I blew 4 RF's in less than a year.

You are saying that something is terrible then recomending RF!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you nuts????? The pair of 15" RF series 1 that I had in a car had to be the worst subs I have ever owned.

For good sound at a reasonable price go with either Kicker Solobaric, or JL. There are cheaper subs out there that sound just as good or better, but none will last as long.

haha,i knew someone like you was gonna come along and rail on one of the companies, it was inevitable. fact is, rockford is one of the country's leaders in car woofer sales. a handful of you are expected to have problems with them, but 95% of our customers are more than satisfied with them. personally, i dont care for them, but that doesnt make them a bad company. perhaps you should check out the link for my SQ/SPL '02 navigator to see which brand i prefer(2 solobaric 18s pushed by 8 kicker 1200.1s). yes, i am nuts...

I'm not saying RF subs are bad they sounded awesome, but seamed to have weak voicecoils. Not just my opinion but when I took in my 4th blown sub I was told they were having problems with several customers blowing them.

If you dont mind losing a lil space in the back seat you can do like me. I have two 12" kicker L7s in a sealed hatchback box in the middle kinda like another center console in the back. There is still room for full grown adults to sit in the back and most people riding in the front never even notice it until I turn them on. Or if you just want a lil bass just get a single hatchback box and fit it in there. One good Jl and a class d amp is all you need. Me on the other hand, I like alot of bass. 2 12 kicker L7s powered by 1800watt class D audiobahn amp. And I dont really care for the amp, just got a good deal on it. Just some food for thought.

I just stated a fact. That fact is that the 15" RF subs that I had were the worst subs I ever owned.
They sounded awful, and only lasted about 2 months before the 1st one threw the voice coil thru the dust cap. The other sub lasted about 2 weeks after that before it quit. I also know several other people who had similar experiences with RF subs over the years. The fact the RF is still in business must mean that they have made huge improvements in the 8 years since my experience, but they are still having problems, and I still say that anybody spending their $ on RF subs needs to have their head examined.

The DB Drive Platinum series are a really good setup. I had two 10's in my avalanche on their 600 watt platinum amp. People thought I had 3 12's. They do like a vented box though, and they have a pretty big basket, so it would be tough getting them in a superduty.

haha. i was about to say something but i wasnt sure if you mislabeled your series 1 and meant stage 1. in 8 years rockford has made leaps and bounds over what they used to be. what kinda problems are you talking about? as a dealer, we have very few come back! the ones that do are people that spend all their money on woofers and cant put enough good clean power to them. so they max their little amp out, and distortion F's up the woofer. when PROPERLY setup, the NEWER model woofers sound great. i honestly believe that if you were to purchase a new one, youd be happy with it. rockford doesnt make millions upon millions of dollars by selling crappy products...

I admit that It has been a while since I formed my openion on RF subs. I just heard about and hve seen many blown RF subs. That could easily be caused of poor quality amps as you say it is or it could be that their older stuff was trash as I have said that I think it is. I ADMIT THAT I DO NOT KNOW FOR SURE.

In fact I have not been paying a lot of attention to stereo equipment for several years now until the last few months. A lot has changed since I was into stereo equipment. I thaught that I had grown out of that stage in life until recently when I decided that I needed a little better sound in my truck. It doesn't have to be great, but I have to improve it some so I started doing some research again. I am gonna go with some 2 or 3 ways in the stock locations, and 1 10 under the back seat. Like I said it won't be the best sounding or the loudest system, but it will sound better than factory.

My only delima is that I do not realy want to shim the back seat up much higher, and there just aren't many 10" subs out there that will go in a box that is shallow enough to fit. Maybe I should just go with a few 8" instead. Actualy that is probably what I should do especialy since I still have 3 JL 8W6 out in the garage. They were the ones with the dule 6 ohm voice coils. They are still in new condition. I used them for mid bass in what I have to say was the best system I ever built.

Another setback in my decision making proces is that Pioneer is all I can get localy in the correct size for the stock locations. (Why in the #### does Ford have to use a "custom sized" speaker???????)

mark,
any 5x7 or 6x8 should work in your truck. we dont sell pioneer, so i dont know a whole lot about them. there are a good few choices out there though. personally, i think the best sounding 2-way speakers out there are the kenwood excelon and mb quarts, both around 125 a pair. 3-way speakers are unnecessary. as for woofers, i prefer a single 10 over any number of 8s. kicker's comp vr is a very good sounding speaker for the money, and is shallow enough for us to put them in 8" truck boxes, re-cut for a 10" woofer. if you can pick up some polyfill at a walmart or something, stuff the box with the polyfill to slow the sound waves down. it tricks the woofers into thinking the box is bigger than it is. if you need some help, id be more than happy to do what i can thru PMs...

Advoid pioneer speakers they are not what they used to be, you'd almost be better with stock than Pioneer. I'd search online if you can't find better speakers locally.
