I think all the major brands made by DEI have the turbo timer built in with the remote start.

I've got the Viper 791XV alarm with remote start. I don't know what the max setting for the turbo timer is but I have mine set at 1 or 2 minutes if I remember correctly.

Had it for about 6 months now and love it. Cost me $185 online and I installed it with the help of a friend. Took about 4 hours. Not too hard.

Another vote for the Viper. I have had mine a couple months and love it. When I first installed it I had the crank time too short and it didn't start, but after I adjusted that it has been awesome. And I can't remember the turbo times, but I want to say you can get it up to either 10 or 15 minutes.

IMHO, the best system out there is going to be from Code Alarm. Some of the better (read: more expensive) systems of theirs will have a ton of inputs/outputs for factory keyless and keypad integration.
I installed a Code Alarm CA-670 on my wife's Expy and love the fact that I can still use the door keypad. I hooked it up so you can actually arm and disarm the alarm using the door keypad, as well as use the factory keyless entry keyfobs (just incase you loose BOTH of your alarm remotes). Awesome range, remote start, turbo timer and the simple fact that Ford uses these alarms in their cars is more than enough reason for me! Oh, and by the way, they have a lifetime warranty on the equipement too. That says a lot about their quality...

I liked it so much, I installed the same alarm on my 03 F250. I got mine for about $120 shipped for everything. PM me if you want to know from where I got it.

I am pretty sure that the Code Alarm is the ONLY alarm that will allow you to use the factory keypad as well as the factory keyfob. Code Alarm makes the alarms FOR Ford. When you buy a car, if you opt for the "alarm" option, they install a Code Alarm. Therefore, Code Alarm have specific inputs for the keypad, which allow you to arm and disarm using it. Viper and others are just standalone alarms and do not have the extra inputs for the keypad.

I still want to be able to use the key pad but Im not that concerned with the key fob. I have an 06 6.0 so will this alarm work with a diesel? Does it have the shock sencer thing (charp once wait then if it is touched again the alarm will sound)? Where can I find some more info on it?

I can almost GUARANTEE the Code Alarm is the ONLY alarm that will let you use the factory keypad AND factory keyfob to arm and disarm the alarm. Again, this is why Ford only uses Code Alarm.

You can read more here:http://www.kcautosound.com/faq.php?q_id=1

He is a great guy and is one of the only ones that I have seen that knows how to wire for the factory keypad. His prices are good and his service is second to none! Currently, these units are on sale on his website.

There are a MILLION wires on this unit and if you order it "custom pre-wired" as he has it on his website, it should cut your install time IN HALF!

BTW, I purchased mine from somewhere else on closeout, but learned the hard way that they were a "gray market" business. Because of my cheapness, there is no warranty (even though they said there would be).

This guy helped me out at 1am on a Saturday night, even when I made the mistake of getting the unit from some shady dealer! How's that for customer service?

As far as sensors, yes, it has the shock sensors and door sensors. You can also hook up other sensors like glass-break sensors, etc.

Give him a call and he will take care of you for sure!

For an Auto Start, you will probably want to lose the factory keyfob for a long range unit. The factory keyfob wouldn't let you get too far away from the truck for a start.

We do a lot of Autostart's on the Diesel trucks and one of my favorite is the DEI(Viper, Python, etc.)

Hey. I can answer this one!!!! About time I found one I could answer.

A turbo timer allows the truck to run for a pre set amount of time after you turn the key off to allow the turbo to cool down. I don't have one yet, but some of the guys on here use them and some don't. I hear and believe it would be best after a hard run or long haul. It just so you can get out of the truck and leave it running. So you don't have to sit and wait for it to cool down. One of those nifty set it and forget it deals.

I hope I got that right.....

oh ok, I got one of those with the remote start, the "Prestige" I love it!! use it all the time, rainy nights to leave the heater on while I run in the store, or a hot day to keep the baby cool while I go into the bank (kidding on keeping the kid in their alone) mine was set for 10 minutes from factory but I would like to change the time to 15 or 20, any thoughts on the time?

You got it right. They keep the engine running to circulate the oil over the turbo bearings to cool them off. After a hard run, the bearings are so hot that they can coke the oil pretty darn quick if just shut off.

I have a Viper 791 alarm for remote start and a GReddy turbo timer. I like the GReddy b/c you can set certain temps to shut it off or 2 different times. Program 1 is set for 1 minute and program 2 is set for 9:59 for when I run into a store to get smokes or beer or something and it keeps the A/C going for me. A black truck gets hot quick in Florida. I do get some cops messing with me every once in a while about leaving the truck running with no one in there. I just show them my keys in hand and tell them to get in it and try to move it. They hit the brakes to put it in gear and it shuts off. GOTCHA!! No tickets yet....

The owners manual actually says to keep the truck running from 1 minute to 10 minutes to allow cooling after heavy towing or something like that. You'd figure Ford would give you one from the factory as an option. Let's see..... 74K on my truck and NO TURBO PROBLEMS. There are a lot of others on here who can't say that. Coincidence..... who knows.... but maybe, then maybe not.

I have had one for years (Hornet), and I found 5 minutes is all you need for cool down, even on a hot day after a hard run. The remote start is nice for getting it cooled down in summer or warmed up in winter. I don't have a keypad, so that is a non issue for me.

I have found that when my timer shuts off at 1min. the EGT's have dropped to about 330. I've heard never to shut the truck off until the EGT's hit 400. Anyone know anything on this?

I use the compustar 8000fm. Remote start/Alarm/starter. No problems, good long range. Turbo timer is set for 2 minutes. Never really needed more than that to get down to 400 or less. If your getting a programmer you also have a turbo timer on the Edge juice Platinum. It can do a set amount of time or a set temp.

What is it with the cops in Florida. I was actually asked the same thing as SickHarley the other day. I let him get in and hit the brakes too! He was a little confused. Only in Florida has anyone ever asked.

It's b/c it's a state law that you're not allowed to leave a vechicle running while unattended. I guess it's a smart law, I just like messing with cops about it. They step to me like I just murdered someone. Then talk to me for 10 minutes about their Chevy Z-71's.
