Anyone know if a quality dealership can flash better transmission tunes in the ECM without stepping over the emissions line?
Your 3rd 7.3? I guess you like that antique technology :grin2:

A Ford Dealership would not be inclined to do something like this but you could ask Jody at DP-Tuner about your specific needs. There are numerous threads but here is one:

Have the flash a 60dd or tow tune on and call it good. No smoke and better shifts and they can't tell its tuned

Thanks. Yes antique tech = no emissions deletes I suppose. I'm not sure what had been done to the 02 qcsb 4x4 I had, but with very lite throttle it would build 2-4 psi boost and speedometer would just keep climbing without extra pedal. It was straight piped when I bought it in Texas, air box was stock. I suspected something was done to the trans with how effortlessly the truck pulled itself. I got 18mpg pulling a honda civic back home from Texas on a 2 wheel dolly. Through the hills of OK and MO it never came out of overdrive and never struggled to maintain speed. The truck would get you a speeding ticket if you didn't pay attention to the throttle. I sure would like to get my 00 to behave the same way without $10K of mods. Maybe the thing was one of those freaks of assembly???

I need to find an abbreviation schedule.
Isn't that what the engineers would consider the 7.3 to be. They probably won't admit it was the best light/medium duty diesel they ever designed.
I'll talk to DP and see what they recommend for how I plan to run my truck.
Thanks.
