I have set of Autometer Ultralites in a pillar pod. The Trans guage is brighter than all the rest and it is driving me nuts. I just changed out all the bulbs from 161's to 194's, and they all got a little brighter, but the trans gauge is still much brighter than the other two. I would like to make the boost and pyro gauges as bright as the trans gauge, not dim the trans gauge to match them. Has anyone had this problem and found a solution yet? I was looking at the LED upgrades. Can I have some opinions on these? Also I have seen an LED dimmer advertised, woul dthis be needed if I changed out to the LED's or is that only for gauges that are built with LED's? Thanks.

Autometer's LED's only have 1 doide and suck...I wasted my money on them.....then I got the 5 diode LED's from Dennis at ITP...massive improvement over Autometer.

Yup, get the ones from ITP....that's what I have. They are WAY brighter than the stock bulb that comes with the guage. I don't have a dimmer on mine, I like mine just the way they are...they're just right if you ask me.

Can you still adjust the brightness with the factory dash dimmer switch?

Yes, the way I hooked mine up...which I believe is the way I followed in the directions from ITP that came in my gauge install kit. So, when I dim down my guage cluster, the lights on the gauge pod also dim down. They're still a little brighter than the dash, but they do dim down. I think the aftermarket dimmer is to be able to control them seperately.

I cant wait to see what my 5 LED bulbs from Dennis at ITP look like installed, they should be waiting for me when I Get home, (ON a short little deployment into southern Indiana picking up pieces of F-15 in a corn field... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/phoney.gif Don't know anything about why it went down, investigation is nowhere near complete...) But we have almost a full semi dump trailer, and 7 dump trucks full of parts! Mostly not usable anymore,, after impacting the ground about 600mph,,, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/depressed.gif

Pilot did get out, and no one on the ground hurt,,, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif

Ummm wow, the only thing I can think of when someone says "Skydiveing incident" is,, non opening, lines skewed, or only partial opening of chute,, and NEITHER ONE can be good! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/phoney.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif
Glad your still here with us! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif

High winds, low altitude turn, ouch. Broke L5 int 16 pieces. Skydiving in 2 months after incident. Air Force put me back to work on the flight line in 6 months, never a problem (except pain). Knock on wood.

Oops didn't mean to highjack, back on topic.
