Back with 2001 7.3 shutdown/no start problem. Finally got my AE software and ran a scan. Here is what I found so far. ICP pressure runs up to about 2200 while cranking then falls back to about 240 after cranking stop. ICP volts start at .2 with key on, up to 2.7 while cranking then .5 when cranking stop. Duty cycle start at 14.8 then up to around 40 while cranking. Prior to scanning the CPS, IPR, ICP and pigtail have been replaced. Wires on top of engine look good. Returned a P1280 code which is ICP sensor circuit low. I may have jacked up a crimp on new pigtail which may cause that but not sure that would keep it from starting. KOEO test returned P1293 and P1294 codes which are Injector high side open on both banks. Ideas anyone?

Have you tried starting with icp unplugged?

I did not run a buzz test yet. I didn't because of the way the problem occurred. It just shut down without warning while driving. I can certainly do so since I have the tool. I did try to start with ICP unplugged prior to replacement. The ICP had oil in it so it was bad or going bad whether it was the problem or not.

Okay, ran buzz test. All the odd numbers made the same noise and all the even numbers made the same noise but odd and even were different. Even was louder than odd. Also returned the P1293 and 1294 codes for Banks 1 & 2 Injector high side open. Cleared all the other codes and they did not come back after cranking.

Sounds to me like your pass side UVCH is bad, could be both sides.

I would start with checking uvch and make sure not burnt anywhere them maybe ohm wires at idm and make sure all wiring is good from idm to injectors

I should probably know this but could you clarify the "UVCH". Under valve cover harness maybe? Could this be a bad ICM?

Okay I ohmed the IDM connector and here is what I got

Left Bank
#2 - 4.0
#4 - 4.4
#6 - 4.5
#8 - 4.6

Right Bank
#1 - 4.0
#3 - 3.9
#5 - 2.9
#7 - 3.0

All the specs I could find say the range is 2.8 to 3.6. Clearly most of mine are above that range. The ground circuits tested good. Would this be a good indicator the UVCHs are bad? I suppose I'm being a bit lazy and trying not to pull the valve covers unless I just have to.

The fact that they are fairly consistent across the board would reflect more on your meter than the hardware. I don't see anything there that would make me run buy new parts. If you had one with infinite resistance or zero resistance, I'd be more encouraged you had isolated an problem.

What issue are you currently chasing? Is it still not starting?

The slightest connection would show an ohm reading.

With the Ohm reading on pass side and buzz test sound, I still say your trouble is on the pass side UVCH.

It is a shutdown/no start issue and thanks very much for the input. Just to make sure I put fresh batteries in my multi-meter and rechecked except this time I unplugged the harness at the valve cover on both sides, inspected them closely again and reconnected before I checked ohms. The drivers side read about the same but the passenger side numbers went way up, like 180 to 200 ohms. I agree the passenger side must have some sort of issue. I wiggled the plug around several times and the readings stayed very high. Guess i'll be pulling valve covers
