Would a bad, or soon to be bad CPS cause my rig to smell like it is running rich? Smells of unburned fuel. Little grey smoke on start up. I want to elim as much as I can befor taking it to someone for help... (thinking it is a sloppy injector but checking the easy stuff first)

it is a home made tymar with 5K on it, all pavment driving. I blew it with a air gun and got some dust off. It seems to puff when acceleratign form a dead stop/red light but I don't see an smoke while driving. It may be there but too little to notice.
