How are some ways I can tell if my wheel bearing is going bad or if it is the ball joints. I had the truck in getting the tires rotated and wanted to check the brakes for wear, just for the heck of it I wiggled the hub and felt a very small amt of play. This shocked me because I had already replaced the bearing about 30k ago. I really wasnt able to play with it much in the tire store..figures getting everything ready for a big family trip...any suggestions??? Thanks.

Neither, the ball joints or the bearings in my opinion. To check your ball joints jack up your truck and slide a 4ft long pry-bar under your tire and give it the heave-ho. If there gone you will here the distinct clunk sound. These trucks are hard on upper ball joint.
I had one hub assembly go on me, I knew it by the way it GROWELD. When I replaced it the old one had turned blue were I’m guessing the bearing outer race let go from the hub.
Enjoy the trip /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
