I'm watching a Banks turbo on Ebay--just wanted to ask you folks to give me a shot at it. The guy's starting bid is 500.00. It's used-any specific questions I should ask? Bearings, etc? How does the price sound- he has a buy it now at 800.00. If I get this all I need is a Gearvendor and I should be set. Thanks in advance...

It looks like it's missing some pieces...down pipe and other exhaust. Also doesn't have pyro or boost gauges. They can add up real fast from Banks. If it was complete $800 is a good deal.

You might want to find out how much a new downpipe is From Banks. I don't think there is any need for the exhaust or gauges to be from Banks. Youc an get some nice gauges from Ken at DPS a boost gauge for $40 and a pyro for $120 if you want to go that route. A good open exhaust 3" or larger will run 200-400 depending on if you buy it new or used, you install it or the exhaust shop installs it, but agian there's no need to buy Banks' stuff.

I sent the guy a message yesterday asking for a missing parts breakdown. Looks like it needs the crossover pipe, down pipe, cdr relo, oil lines and mounting brackets as well as the flex joints. Banks is really weird in their pricing of component parts. CDR kit $29, y pipe for a stinger kit $365?!. I looks like the guy bought two kits and cannibalized both to make his turbo work. Sometimes a little more money for a complete kit it cheaper and less aggravating in the long run - did you see the ATS kit??

I really only meant the downpipe and the rest of the y-pipe assembly...note the $365 price for the y-piping. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/phoney.gif I personally don't like the banks exhaust...so that you don't need. And of course you can get gauges anywhere...but they come with a new kit for $2400. Also note a rebuild is about $500. Just some thoughts.

I wonder if there is any chance the turbo itself would bolt onto the non-waste up-pipe? I wouldn't mind having a wastegate to play with. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif

That's a good question, but I think the waste gated ones have more of a chance of blowing the heads loose. But also probably a little more fun to drive.
