i tested my batteries the showed 12.25 volts under no load then i started the truck and tested them one showed 12.25 volts and the other showed -12.25 volts are they bad? the truck does start kind of sluggish

If one showed -12.25 volts you had your meter leads backwards. My batteries show around 14 - 14.3v when running. If you want, just take your batteries down to a local parts store and have them load tested. Autozone and the like have machines that will tell you how charged the batts are and how much load capacity they have left.

Mine started slow after a while (Old one drew 80 amps, on the bench). Put in a new gear reduction starter and starts fast now. A lot of people on this site talk about put a Super Duty starter into the OBS.

12.25 is on the low side. A fully charged one should show about 12.68. Make sure you disconnect the positive cable running between the two batteries to test them when truck is not running. Otherwise you are not getting a good test....more of an average of the two.
