Since I'm losing a tad of boost somewhere, naturally another likely suspect would be the up-pipe donut gaskets. A serious search turned up what seemed like an ideal solution: the bellows upgrade kit available from International, which eliminates the donuts and solves the problem forever.

Eureka! or so I thought. Placed a call to the local International parts guy and almost fell off my chair when he quoted over $900 (discounted from list of $1200). And apparently nobody else has a cheaper aftermarket version either.

Oh well. Maybe I'll try the small-block Chevy donuts.

There's also the "special" donut seals that Bean's sells for about $80. They didn't fix my exhaust leak, but in all fairness the uppipe is too eroded to allow a good seal. I've got a new pipe to put in. Cheers!

I'm having a hard time understanding the $80 brass donuts from Beans...if the pipe itself is subject to wear, won't the brass wear the pipe worse than the existing donut material?

They should conform to the pipe better than the stock donut material. They also don't have the flat bottom portion of the donut (the part that sits on the uppipe) missing. The edges of the donut should do the sealing (harder to explain than actually see). Cheers!

ITP Diesel has bellowed up pipes for $410.

Nah, I checked ITP. They carried them before, but they must source them from International; they said they were too expensive for them to carry now.

(edit: they may still carry them for the later models but not ours)

Sorry, I failed to look at the year of your truck (or the section of this forum I was surfing). Good luck, 1100 bucks is a lot of cash.
