Ya, so I follow the directions in the owners manual to disable the beltminder in the Excursion. It doesn't work.

Any trick or is there something different with the Ex?

In detail, once all conditions are met (parking brake etc.) I turn the key on, what for the seat belt light to go out, buckle and unbuckle 3 times, turn on and off the headlights, buckle and unbuckle the seatbelt 3 times again, I'm supposed to get a seatbelt light for 3 seconds before I buckle and unbuckle on last time. I get nothing.

Any ideas?

These instructions worked for me. Maybe they are more detailed than the manual.

1. Set Parking Brake & put truck in Park.

2. Turn key to ON but do not start. Wait for the seat belt light to go off. (NOTE: This could take 30+ seconds before the light goes off. Be patient.)

3. You have 60 seconds to complete the next task.

4. Buckle and unbuckle the seat belt 3 times ending with the belt UNbuckled.

5. Turn on the headlights and then turn them off.

6. Buckle and unbuckle the seat belt 3 more times ending with it UNbuckled.

7. Watch the dash as the seat belt light will illuminate.

8. Within 7 seconds of the light going out, buckle then unbuckle the seat belt.

Thanks for the replies.

That's what's in my manual too, but I never got the light back on after the 2nd round of buckling. Hmmm....... Guess I'll try it again.

Yeah, my light didn't either, but I just buckled & unbuckled one more time as if it did come on & the Beltminder no longer buzzes. It took me a few attempts to succeed.

There was a note in the manual about how to disable it for a single key cycle, but I didn'tread it; I want it off. I don't drive without the belt but for the times I'm, for example, moving the boat around the storage yard, I don't want it dinging at me.

I havenb't had time to try anything again, but I'll try it.

One of the first things I did on ALL three excursions /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
even though I wear my seatbelt ALL the time...

but it does take patience and persistence...
too bad it's not a simple switch to turn it off /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

guess the lawyers (or da gooberment) told them make it difficult /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

? If you wear the belt ALL the time, why do you need to disable the minder? I never even hear mine. Of course, I wear mine ALL the time.

Take Care

OK smart $$$ /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If I wear it all the time, why do I need a beltminder ?!?!

when I move the car around the house/driveway/shop/lookin at houses and am jumping in and out

let me qualify it for all that need it...
whenever I am on the ROAD I wear it ...

pass muster now ?

I just did this to an 05 pick up and it said 9 times, your right though the x is 3. Make sure you buckle the belt solid, you can take your time 30 sec is forever and keep trying it works. I didtched this and the auto lock after a few jolts to the nerves, when I move the truck around I don't want the darn thing going off, it scares me when I back up to a trailer and I think it is the reverse sensor. I always wear mine also, it has really become a habit now and I think the bell is anoying. The auto lock also, I would just move the truck, walk to the back to have it locked. That is gone also, easier than the seat belt deal.

I finally tried it again yesterday and voila', no more chime.

What I missed was that when in the manual is says, 3 buckle/unbuckle's then lights on/of then 3 more buckle/unbuckle's then you get the flashing beltminder light to conform it's done, they really meant 3 buckle/unbuckle's, lights on/off then 6 buckle/unbuckle's then you get the flashing beltminder light and you're good to go! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif

I just kept buckling and unbuckling that 2nd time until it started flashing. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
