A friend has an 04 or 05 F150 with the 5.4l.

He already has a K&N intake system and performance exhaust.

Where should he go to get some good tunes for his ride?

Is it worth it at this point or is there something a little more worthwhile to do to this gas motor?

I have a 99 f150. 5.4 air raid intake, spacer, new TB, new mass air, stock exhaust( no muffler ) , i have 208K on the truck. i just installed the edge power programer.. WOW.. what a difference.. I still use to haul some very heave loads. the most impressive part is during normal highway driving i get close to 19mpg on average.
Also shifts are stiffer. and at 75mph on the interstate, used to run about 2200 rpm or so.. now it runs around 1750-1800.

very excellent product..

I'm planning on going with a XCal2 programmer and custom tunes, see this thread.

Thanks

John-

Thanks for the info, I just emailed them the question. I will let you know when they respond. Also, the Edge company headquarters is here in Ogden, Utah where I am currently working, so if notheing else, I'll see what they have.

That's great Pappy, I'd be curious to know what you find out.

Take care,

Yes, Troyer does do the V-10 tunes. I still have the 3.5" AF-1 and my Xcal from my 2007 F-150 before I traded it. Although I may want to keep the Xcal for my 6.0L, I could be swayed to part with the 3.5" AF-1 and the Xcal for the rigth price. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif

I am sure the AF-1 with the Xcal will put out more than the other canned tuners with other intakes. Troyer will tell you. They custom write tunes deep into your PCM program to configure it for the best - period - not just the surface perameters. Some like the Edge, but there is no comparison to a Troyer-tuned 5.4L. Try it - you'll like it. I easily shaved 2-1/2 seconds off my 0-60 times. I ran the 93 Octane High Performance almost all the time - except when towing.
