So are the Applied Rotor Tech the best brakes out there? Its time for brakes and I want to go with the best stuff I can get. Are there any vendors on here that sell a good brake rotor/pad?

You will get many opinions on this subject ranging from OEM to cryo treated XXXXX rotors. I like my OEM rotors and Performance Friction z-rated Carbon Metallic pads. I have very pricey two piece PF rotors in my basement waiting for the OEM front rotors to wear out. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/phoney.gif

www.rotorpros.com ; their drilled and slotted rotors, no-dust pads, and then get a set of rebuilt calipers from www.powerstrokeshop.com , flush your brake fluid with Racing Super Blue Dot 4, and you'll be set.

[/ QUOTE ]I personally would only purchase new calipers for my environment as the rebuilt OEMs are sandblasted removing the coating which decreases corrosion of the caliper. With all the salt/MgCl2 put down around here in winter, we do not need a loss of corrosion protection.

Most brakes are not as well maintained as they should be. Get your stock brakes up to shape and I'll bet you will be happy.

I race my Camaro on the track all the time with stock brakes except for the pads.

Here's what I use. OEM blank rotors, Carbotech XP10 pads, SS brake lines, and DOT 4 brake fluid that I find at the parts store.

On my truck, OEM blank rotors, Carbotech Bobcat pads (great brake pads), and DOT 4 brake fluid.

Here's the problem with drilled or slotted rotors like Power Slot. They are a cracked rotor waiting to happen. Unless they are cast with the holes or slots, they are not going to hold up as well as blanks. Also, you lose braking surface area. And, you'll go through pads quicker. AND they are more expensive!!!!

Drilled rotors are designed to expel gases created by the pads. Modern pads don't produce these gases or at least not as much, so it's really not an issue.

Now, what makes you think you need new and better brakes?
