I have a 2000 7.3. I have the superchip 1805. My EGT is always high when I tow but I need the extra power. I listened to some people and installed the 4 in Pipe from the turbo back. I then had the AFE Stage II Air Filter system put in that was supposed to give me as much as 50 more HP. I think all it does is make a lot of noise. I guess the bottom line is that I saw no gain in power or lower Exhaust Gas temps (which was the main reason I did these two mods) with the 4 in pipe or the AFE Stage II air filter. Maybe it's because the Chip was already installed? I notice the Superchip 1805s program doesn't care what your mods are all the programs are the same. Is there any chip that has programming in it assuming that you have put a 4 in pipe and the AFE II filter on? Should I switch to an EDGE Chip? WHat can I do to get the EGT's down? I also have 37 in Tires and no changes to the rear end gears.

the biggest advantage to adding intake and exhaust are not only hp gains but lower egt's.anytime you use canned tunes(ie edge,bullydog,etc,,,)you cant maximize the potential for tuning.they are written for simple plug and play.call cale at bts(brians truck shop)he can build you a 6 pos switch that will have 6 different programs.you can have them tailored specifically for your needs.dp also has great tunes,so does tony wildman.for optimum tuning hit jody(dp tuner) at a live tune session,he will ride with you and build programs just for you,given you better bring your wallet.thats my take on it,im sure others will chime in.

My brother has a 2000 PSD 4X4 with 35's and he tows a 18K 5th wheel. I put gauges in it and stock it would hit 1400 on the 6% hill with no problem. I installed an intake, exhaust and DP Tunes with 40 Tow and 80 Econo. In the 40 tow he can now pull the 6% hills all the way to red line and never goes over 1300 deg EGT...
