Noticed my Edelbrock AIS shock in the left rear lost about a 1/4 cup oil today. Now that it's time to get new shocks all around, I'm looking for some advice. I have a 2 wheel drive, so no off roading. I'm looking for the best ride on typical rough California roads. Any hands on experience would be appreciated.

I am super happy with my KYB Monomax at 180.00 from www.pickproparts.com

At first they seemed stiff after the original Ford junkers, but not at all after a week of driving. Its stable and nice, they come with boots, and really ride super. For the price its hard to beat

What Ironside said. I replaced the OEM shocks on my 2wd with Bilsteins 30k+ miles ago. On road, together with the Michelin LTX M/S, a mighty fine ride, empty or loaded - though these trucks do ride much better with a load in the back. As I recall, they sell for 62-70 bucks each at a couple of different internet sellers....

Thanks guys, that's just the kind of info I was hoping for. Anyone have a best price supplier for Bilsteins?

I am really happy with my Bilstiens. Do a search on 'shocks' in the archives, and you will find plenty to read.

King shocks are a heavy duty shock for trucks running big lifts, and correct me if I am wrong, but most monster trucks run them.

hope this helps

I just got mine form eshocks.com, after some research it was the cheapest place I could find. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

CAREFUL ON THE REAR SHOCKS!!
Bilstein and Eshocks both list a 2819 for the rear of a stock height 250. I replaced mine with 2816, the 2819's were too long.
Got mine from eshocks.com too.

I replaced my stock shocks with Monroe Gas Magnum. Those were great.

After thirty-something thousand miles, I replaced the Monroe Gas Magnums with Bilstein. Nothing wrong with the Monroes, but with all the hype about how great were the Bilsteins I just had to try them. Results? The Bilsteins are great too, but no better than the Monroes.

So the most shock for the money for a PSD CrewCab 4x2 is Monroe Gas Magnum. They cost about 2/3rds as much as the Bilsteins and are just as good.
