After reading alot of others posts, it seams that changing out the pipes, intakes and all else from early 99 to 99.5 isnt always worth it. Unless anyone has a different view. It just opens up so many more turbo options. Ive checked Beans and he says the Dominator 66 outflows the H2E. How can this be or did I miss read it? If its not worth it to change out the pipes and such to 99.5 and up, then is the Dom 66 the best turbo replacement for the early 99? Any input would be great! Thanks

When I had my early 99 I did convert everything with the H2E and I did notice a big difference in power and EGT's. Never tried anything else so I can't say if the 66 will outflow the H2E. If you are planning future mods I would reccomend converting.

I considered Beans Dom66 also when I was upgrading my early 99. If I had not already picked up the upgraded parts to convert to late model turbo I might has bought the Dom 66, but since I already had everything I went ahead and upgraded. I went with a TN turbo as I mainly tow and so far have been very happy with it. Changing to the late model intake plenums and the larger late model spyder have account for some better air flow in my opinion, just going from the 2.5" intakes to the 3" and the slightly larger volume of the later intake plenums have to improve air flow along with the upgraded turbo.

The only truck I have seen with the D66 on it, is Tubzz wifes Wandas. She was MADE some VERY good Dyno numbers with it (IIRC they were HIGH 300s,,)with her OBS truck, (Same basic system as the Early 99s) I know Bean has some very satisfied D66 users out there...

Any proud owners of the D66 have any dyno results they can post. I too am seriously considering the D66 for my early 99, but would like to see some real world results on what it is capable of. I plan on getting Bean's stage II's and the D66. Dusty has told me that combo, along with what is in my sig, will be good for an easy 400 RWHP, and I don't have any reason to not believe it, but would like to see that at least one other person out there has been able to accomplish this.

Thanks, I read that earlier. I think Strokin said he was going to put his truck on the rollers over father's day weekend. I wonder if that ever happened?

Try this... Beans D66 turbo report

Thank You
I cant believe that the 66 could even function without first upgrading the HPOP. I was planning on doing that before the turbo. But the terminator requires use of the stock HPOP does it not? So should I get a 17* 99.5+ HPOP now and then get a term or stealth?

The turbo would work fine with out changing the HPOP.

There is no point in changing to the 17* pump if you plan on doing big oil really.

ask this question in the Obs forums and you will see alot more answers. I know rtxcoon made like 430hp on his obs with stages 3's and baby oil and obs fuel. with the 66

When I read up the the Terminator and priced it out it said it required the use of the stock HPOP. Was I mistaken?

One of the kits uses your stock HPOP and the other system you get to new pumps ready to go.

OK guys, here is the current update.

We are having problems with tuning the XLE4 PCM to work with the stealth. Timing is way too advanced and the engine rattles like crazy. Jody even emailed tunes to Joey and he burned my chip up there at the event. But it was still rattling too much. FWIW, the big oil stock tunes tow better than any tune that Jody made for my truck before big oil. Currently I am waiting for Jody to be back up and running. Jody and I are trying a new computer code like PMT1, he has a lot more dyno time with that code. I sent a PCM to program.

I was on the rollers with a tony wildman chip with his race and extreme tunes. The race tune yielded 289.2hp and the extreme tune yielded 290.4hp.

Quite a few guys there looking at my truck said they expected it to make a lot more power than it did. Guys were calling the numbers before Maddog hopped in and put the hammer down. There was estimates from 330-380. I was hoping for around 350 with the stock injectors. BUT,,,,was not to be.

However, I finished 12th overall at the NorCal Diesel Rally. If you take the guys out that were juiced, I finished second. I finished 6th in the sled pulls overall and 1st unjuiced. Drag race results are poor, 16.95 is not fast.

I will dyno the truck when I get the tuning thing worked out.

MAN!!! Ditch the XLE, send Jody $200 for a later NVK or PMT PCM and you are set. It was a world of difference when I chucked my XLE for the later model PCM.

Why cant the programming on the chip be made to a later model instead of swapping out the entire pcm? Worked fine doing it that way on my OBS /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

I don't know. I have asked and Jody has tried multiple times to adjust timing and things but it doesn't work right. The tony wildman tunes were week. I was very shocked when I put the chip and ran it on the track. The enhanced stock tunes from Jody run stronger than tony's extreme tune. I wish I saw better numbers with my truck. My set up is similar to yours.

<font color="red"> On edit,
First let me say the chip was sent to me by Gary at Stecher performance, not Tony. Tony just called me and the tunes I was given were for a STOCK early 99 truck. No mods at all. So, he is sending a chip for me to test and I am sure I will be very happy. They don't call him WILDMAN for nothing. I will report back the results /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif The service from the diesel crowd is awesome around here. </font>

I spoke with jody a couple of hours ago and the PCM and new tunes are being shipped tomorrow. I hope to see a world of difference. I will keep the D66 updates rolling.

First let me clarify the chip was sent to me by Gary at Stecher performance, not Tony. Tony called me earlier today to get to the bottom of things and the tunes I was given were for a BONE STOCK early 99 truck, no mods at all. So, he is sending a chip for me a real TW chip to test and I am sure I will be very happy. I will report back the results. I have back to back pulls in a few weeks. I am toying with the idea of running one chip on one pull and the other chip on the other pull. That should give me a real tuning comparison. TW vs DP /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif
