Stumbled across this, to greatly speed up the purging of air from the fuel system when changing the injectors and or pump, disconnect the power lead to the cold start valve on the injection pump (yellow wire at the rear of pump). This allows the air to escape much faster from the now unrestricted return line fitting. About 4, four or five second cranks on the starter with the throttle held to the floor (all of the injector lines about 1/2 turn loose at the injectors) and you will see fuel at the injector line nuts, tighten the line nuts and your ready to make smoke.

Huff I would like to offer a slight change to your info if I may.

Try one 10-15 second cranking with the timing advance connected then disconnect the wire.

With the timing advance connected this allows fuel/air from the IP check valve to the return line asap and would drain air from the filter/inlet lines/IP first. Then disconnect the T/A wire and only fuel would be going to the injectors during the cracking of the injector lines not accumulated air in the IP too. Whatcha think....

I'm sure going to save this in my folders. I can't stand cranking the motor any more than I need to. Yes, I have an electric lift pump (holley red) but sometimes it will need cranking longer then I like.
