If your not concerned about the electrical bill, then I wouldn,t worry about it. These heaters are pretty robust. I have never had one fail in 15 years of multiple use nor have I heard of any failing. Its usually the cord that craps out from flapping around when you see a problem.

I have two 2000 PSD trucks and use the block heaters only occasionally. The only problem I've ever had is when some idiot (me) forgets to unplug the truck before driving it. I had to replace the AC plug on one of them.
