Hey all, I have a 2007 f350 srw 4x4 3.73. Have a severe clunk and disruption in the drive train. I pulled the diff cover off and noticed that all 6 bolts on the locker are broke, 4 have worked them selves out and been chewed up. 240k on truck, diff fluids only had 80k on it. What causes this. Can I put a rear diff from a 2011 sd 3.73 in its place.

I'd have to suspect a vibration that loosened them. Are they RH or LH thread? Often they are LH thread to prevent loosening from in the normal direction of rotation. I always use red Loctite on them to prevent loosening. I've seen them safety wired on race cars before, but that shouldn't be necessary on the street.

My 991/2 psd rrar end did the same thing at 37k. Warranty fixed it, as for as thread being left or right, im not sure at this time, the rear end is salvageable, ill put a used unit under it for now, and build a good rear end this winter.
