on the highway i wont go past 2250 rpm and today i tryed it u to 3000rpm on neutral on my driveway and still don't get over 2psi pressure. the boost is installed at the filter cup, i have the hypermax turbo and it reuses the same filter so i keep the same setup with the turbo. any ideas wy?

thank you, Exekiel.

What does it do when you're driving up a grade and you stick your foot in it?
You need to put a load on the engine to develop boost.
Theoretically (and ideally), without a load, boost should be ZERO.
The belt-driven accessories and the camshaft and the oil pump all require power, so there will be a small amount of boost without an external load. The "trim" of the turbo will also affect boost at no load.

My ATS will evelop about 2.5 PSI at high idle with no load.
When going uphill with my foot in it at 70MPH in 4th or 5th, it makes 8PSI boost. It could make more, but that's where my wastegate is set to open.

You can't get any boost sitting in the driveway reving it up. Put a load on it pulling a hill and adjust from there.

Wher exactly is the gauge line attatched, on top of the intake manifold hat (where it should be) or on the air filter side (no boost is generated here)

Look at this pic http://www.cvconline.com/users/hufsredo/prsrswitchs.jpg
I have the boost line "T"ed into the Hobbs switches. You will have a 1/8" pipe fitting near the bolt that holds the hat onto the intake.
This is the itercooled hat, yours will look different.

Boost is a measure of engine load, no load no boost. If you floor board it on the freeway you should see at least 6 psi in 3 seconds.

i have pulled loads but not on the highway, even 4k on a trailer some day's ago. it is on the filter cause on the intake hat i have a hobbs switch for the propane, that i can not use cause it is for 10psi. so now i have two questions, can you tell me where to get a hobbs switch that will work with less pressure or since i have this one that works can i connect it in some where else... i'll see if i move it so i can get it to work without geting another one. i will move the boost switch to the intake hat and report back.

thank you, Exekiel.

You can buy a 1/8 pipe "T" and put the hobbs switch on the side, like in my photo. The gray hose on top is my boost line (covered by some small hose to protect it)
The hobbs switches are adjustable. Look at the point on top of where the wires go, there is a small rubber plug, with a small screwdriver remove the plug. There will be a 7/32 size allen wrench socket in there. turn the allen wrench counter clockwise. I think 1/4 turn = 1 psi lower (not sure obout this). I can send you one set at 3 psi, if you send me back the one you have.

the one i have is set to 10psi, i did not know i can set it myself, i will try and see if the propane comes on this way. The boost is most of the time at 2psi so i will lower it all the way and see.

Thank you, Exekiel.

EZ, I KNOW WHERE YOU HAVE YOUR BOOST GAUGE LINE, AND THAT WON'T WORK! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Probably nobody else answering this thread has seen your set up. You need to look at my article again, and take note of where my boost presure line goes. You need to move your tubing to that location on the intake hat, and plug the whole you made in the air cleaner. Your done with that one now. - Mel

I already moved it from the filter cover and put it on the intake hat this morning, at the same time i pluged the one where it was before, i will see later if it does work while i drive it. i tried to set it as low as it can go, or shouold i say i open it all the way (that will be counterclockwise)

Exekiel.

ps. i did not turn up the fuel, i will like if you can help me with this on the rally Mel. would it make a diference if i turn it up with the outside screw just for now?

Do you hear the turbo spin up? It is sounding like a massive leak now, IF the boost gauge is between the turbo and the engine, it is in the right place. If still no pressure (max of 2 I think you said) sounds like a large leak, either in the exhaust (to drive it) ot the intake (releasing pressue). Did you remember to plug the hole for the CDR?

I would look for a leak. Something is not hooked upo, or aligned and sealed correcly. If you can not hear the turbo when doing the hill test, then I would look at the exhaust first. If you can hear it, then it should be making pressure, and you are letting it out smoehwere?

Keep us posted...
