Boreing a diesel out

I was wondering has anyody taken a block like oh lets say a Ford 6.9 IDI and bored it out. I'm not just talking about that block but other blocks too. If anybody has can you tell me the origonal cubic inch or literadge to the after math (ex. 6.9 to 7.1). Have you even heard of somebody doing something like that.

Problem is if you get the cylinder walls too thin, you run the risk of cavitation. It's a problem with the 7.3, because in addition to using a different piston, IH bored out the 6.9 block to make the 7.3, and the cylinder walls are too thin on it from the factory...
