I have to fix my transfer case. It's a BW 13-56. I bought one at a junk yard and it seems to be in great condition. I started to take it apart but i can't seem to get the case apart. The main shaft is holding the 4x4 gears in place.

Is the snap ring the thing I have to remove????

I started taking this apart in 4 wheel low I think. Is that a problem? Do I need to try to get it into 2 wheel high to take it apart???

PLEASE HELP!!!

I just did mine a few months ago, and if I remember right, there's a couple 'hidden' snap rings that might hold you up. I think there's one under the tailshaft extension housing, if you don't have that off yet.
The shift linkage can be a trick to get lined up right, but it's pretty easy to see what's binding up if it gives you problems.
It basically comes apart from the back side working forward.
Your best bet would be to find an exploded view, that's about all I had to work with.

Yeah, I have that diagram already, thanks for sending it though. I actually have the service manual that the dealership uses.

What I was afraid of is that I though I got it stuck in some gear that was binding it up.

It was just the snap rings.

THANKS!!!!
