Instructions say not to mount the brake controller (Valley Odyssey II) near a RF source (CB). Any idea how far is far enough? What happens to the controller if mounted too close to CB?

There are not a lot of options and still be able to get to the controller or have it visible. The CB is mounted on a bracket on the floor on the center hump in front of console. Was going to put the controller on dash above the 4X4 shift lever. May be about 12 inches away at the most. Am I needing a location farther away?

Fyi

The instructions clearly said to not mount near a RF/CB source.

Well I had to install it and and finally got to talk to Valley/Thule and the man said to make it 18 inches away from the CB which is installed on floor hump in front of the console on a bracket I made . It is a 2002 F 250. To get that distance I had to move it on the left of the steering wheel. Spent all afternoon trying to fabricate a bracket that would mount the controller between the emergency brake release and the emergency brake pedal and have clearance so both would work. Got it made and the fuse panel cover would not go on after extensive modifications to bracket. Got pissed and just drilled two holes in the panel and screwed it to that.

Now you say I could have mounted it low and to the right of wheel in behind the CB on the dash. I wish the instructions were more specific than do not locate near RF source. Wanted to mount it there until I actually read the instructions and called.

Today I got a reply from the company (8) days from web site help form and this the reply to my question.

How far from a CB radio can the controller be mounted and what happens if too close? Also is it only a problem when broadcasting?

Are you experiencing problems currently? If not, the brake controller should have no trouble being next to the CB radio.

Lesson: Don't read the instructions.
Hope this helps someone out there.

The CB has high power transistors that amplify the signal. The Brake booster has high power transistors that provide variable power to the brakes on the trailer. I can see how the CB might interfere with the Brake booster's low voltage transister input. But i would say that the Brake booster would cause greater interference to the CB. So long as you don't ground them together, I'd say you would be safe putting them closer together, especially if your CB doesn't have the power turned up on it. I definitly wouldn't mount them together or tie their grounds together. Did i mention i wouldn't tie their grounds together?
