I have an 02 4x4 7.3L, 131K . I have noticed that when I hit the brakes hard the truck will pull to the left. Its so bad that it could make a left on its own. I've removed the caliper and the slide pins were dry. So, I lubed them up. This helped a little. But still the same thing. Either way when you hit the brakes if your not holding the wheel she'll go to the left.
Its not bad if your gentle on the peddle.

Drive wise the truck goes straight as an arrow down the road.

Am I looking at replacing the calipers then on the front? Or is it something else? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

Thanks

You are on the right track. If has been going on long the rotor is probably shot. If you replace the rotors and pads with good ones you should be O.K. You said it goes straight while driving so they shouldn't be dragging.
Also check the other side to be sure it is working and you don't overlook another potential problem.
Good luck.

mine was doing the same and i had to put a right front caliper on it. it was stuck and wouldnt apply pressure to the pads as much as the left one. one caliper, turned the rotors, and put new pads and was good as new. just make sure there is plenty of rotor left to turn or put some new ones on. these heavy x's will get them hot and warp them if they are too thin.

Well here is the update. I pulled the left front caliper off. Pins were dry. The dealer worked on that side last, and must not have lubed the pins. But no way to prove it, they replaced the half shaft. Anyway, upon inspection, yep, the rotors are pretty much toast. And one brake pad is thicker than the other. So, im gettin a hair of a pull. I attributet that to the pins being dry. But at least I dont have to hold the steering wheel for fear it will make a hard left turn on its own!
But I put it all back together, drove about 140miles round trip with the boat hooked up. For the most part its gone. New rotors and pads should clear things up. I have been running the power slot rotors. The stock rotors kept warping under the Ford warty. I got fed up with Fords dumb answers and bought a set of power slots rotors for the front.
This will be my third set now. So, for as many miles 131xxx I cant complain with the product. There cooked, nice and blue /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yes, I recently just did the rear brakes. New standard rotors and pads and lubed up the pins. So, I know the backs are good.

Ill probably drive another 1K on these and change out the fronts.

Thanks for the input
