My '02 does the exact same thing. I'll try to remember to look at it tonight. Its not a ribbit ribbit, more like a little croak /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yea, I'll have to join this club too. Mine started about three weeks ago. It doesn't do it all the time, just part of the time. I like the frog description, that is exactly how it sounds. (I'm still grinning about the ribbit, ribbit.)

Maybe all 2002's came with a frog because mine has it too. I tried greasing it a little bit where the inner rod enters the sleeve(?) near the firewall. It was the only place I could really think to put any grease. It didn't work.

Anyone else have any ideas?

My 01 was doing the exact same thing about a year ago, and still is. I've had it to the dealership 6 times for the noise.. 1st time, they lubed the break pedal shaft. That worked for about 3 days! 2nd time, they replaced the Hydro Booster... No luck.. 3rd time, the tech said he couldn't hear it.. Loud one day, quiet the next!?!?!?! Waited till it was loud again, 4th trip they ordered a new break assembley. Replaced on the 5th trip, still no luck! 6th trip, they told me it was a trait on these trucks.. Pretty much telling me I had to deal with it. I asked him why the heck they replace a $700 Hydro Booster and $200 Break Assembley if it's a trait?? Then told him to show me one of these new trucks on the lot, I wanted to see if they were making the same noise. Instead of a new truck, the service manager took me to his truck, which was an 04 F250 and he couldn't get it to make not one peep. Then he took me over to another truck they were working on, looked like an older model like mine and it made a slight noise, but nothing like the "Frogger getting run over" sound mine was making. He appologized and told me that the hydro booster bushings may need to be broken in before it quits.. Well, it hasn't quit yet and I'm sure the bushings are broke in well by now..

Pretty much the only thing they did that halfway worked for a little while, was the lube job on break pedal shaft. Everything else was pretty much just throwing parts at it. Only thing they didn't replace was the master cyl. Maybe that's the culprit, but I doubt it. Hope this helps you guys out.. Let me know if ya'll find out anything on this..

Thanks

oh yea, the lube they used on my break pedal shaft wasn't grease. They were kind enough to leave me several samples on my rubber floor mat. It looked more like 30W oil.. Almost like motor oil, defiantly not from a grease gun though.

I know you dont want to here from me but the noise is the rubber seal on the master cylinder sliding on the shaft that aplys the brakes. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/warmsmile.gif

I'm sure several people are happy to hear from you if you can help solve their problem. But can you be a little more specific?

The brake master cylinder is in the engine bay and the shaft that applies the brakes is in the cab (attached to the brake pedal). Is that right? If so, where is the rubber seal located? And what is the fix, does it need to be replaced or can it be lubricated to eliminate the noise.

The end of the master cylinder, the one closes to the cab mounts in the fire wall. Look under the dash. brake petal rod into a black rubber that is what keeps the brake fluid that leaks from the master cylinder from coming into the cab. when the rod pushes the master cylinder the rubber is supose to go in and when ou lift your foot it comes out with the rod, But if it gets wet from fluid, or comes loose from the rod it does what most people call farts or frog.

Wouldn't this rubber thing be replaced with the break assembley? I thought the Hydro Booster was bolted to the fire wall and the master cyl was bolted to the Hydro Booster?!?! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif That's the way mine looks anyhow. They replaced both, HB and break pedal assembley with no change in sound. Is this rubber piece not replaced along with one of the two?

Go out to your truck with a flash light stick head ddown under the steering wheel look up toward the fire wall. follow the brake pedal rod. were it comes in contact with the firewall see the rubber boot. on the rod. that is the rubber boot im talking about. press the pedal see what it does. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif
